For a Princess. |
I like to make cake balls, and I love making different ones for people. I find lots of inspiration on line, if you want something, just Google it. You will find lots of examples of what you are looking for. It's a great help.
When my friend said she wanted princess themed pops for her daughter I went on line and took a look. There were a lot of great ideas, some that were too hard for me to do, and some that were just too time consuming. I find that if the design is too hard I get frustrated and upset with myself because they are not exactly what I wanted. So for this reason these pops were chosen and I am happy with some of them, and really happy with others, and so so about the rest.
To start I made small cake balls, and put them on lolli pop sticks. I then melted some white candy melts, and added Americolor candy colouring, since I had some in pink. I don't have many candy colours so I use
colour flow by Americolor, it allows you to use regular gel food colour to colour your candy. And then I added paraffin crystals to get the chocolate thinner.
I have had no luck with my white candy melts, they always seem to crack, I really think it may be due to the cake ball being too cold, but seriously how much bad luck can one girl have? I end up dipping my white chocolate cake balls at least twice. This helps to cover the cracks and helps to ensure the chocolate of the cake ball does not show through.

See how thin my chocolate is? It helps to make it this way to cut down on cracking and globby chocolate. |
|
As you can see they still crack on me, it is sort of neat, you hear the pop of it when it cracks. |
So I do a first dip, then I leave the cake pops for about an hour, that way they are up to room temp and if they are going to crack they have. Then I repeat and dip them again. Now I was in a rush and put too many paraffin crystals in the second batch of candy melts and they did not set properly. So I had to dip a third time. Goodness, this really made the pops bigger, but hey, more chocolate for all.
On the last dip, I let the candy melts almost set then sprinkled on some small white sugar pearls. I wanted to use non perils, but did not have any. Imagine that, a sprinkle I do not own. I will remedy that soon enough.
I did some with pink sanding sugar and those turned out to be my favorite. Then, since I had some extra I did them the lazy way and sprinkled on some snow flake sprinkles. Those were for my son to take to the barn when we went to see "his" pony on the weekend.

Lazy cake balls with snowflakes for the people at the barn. |

It was pouring so my son got to pet the barn cat. |
|
And the super nice lady at the barn brought in my son's pony, Elvis. And my son got to brush him. It was too wet for a ride. But how nice was that of her, my son still thinks Elvis is his pony. I will have to tell him one day, but until then.....oh and ignore the demon eye, he is a really nice pony, promise. |

White Sugar pearls and I brushed on some luster dust to try and get a more glittery look. |

All wrapped up and ready for the Princess |
I really get worked up some times about how my pops turn out, the ones with the sugar pearls are not great, but some times what I envision is not what I get. I just have to keep in mind that they taste great, no matter what.

How pretty! I love the pink sanding sugar as well, and the snowflakes.
Very pretty! I'm going to try making some this weekend. Great instructions!
Very pretty! I bet she loved them! I have had that trouble with the white chocolate melts cracking too. I think you are right about them being too cold. Great idea to double dip. I will try that next time:)
Those turned out so pretty, what little princess wouldn't want these? :)
